Japanese vases are probably the country's oldest form of art, and one of the oldest types of ceramics on Earth. Their first creations date back to the Jōmon period (13,000 to 300 BC) when Japanese people were still mere hunter-gatherers. Over the centuries and eras they perfected their crafting techniques and became masters at their craft.
