Komebukuro: The Japanese Bag
- Smooth and Soft to the Touch
- Authentic Japanese Pattern
The komebukuro is generally constructed out of small bits of cloth - hemp or cotton - sewn together in a cheerful and spirited manner. This festive style of making and sewing is attributed to the fact that this type of bag was destined to carry small portions of rice or dried beans at a local sanctuary or temple during the holiday season. Such bags are of various sizes and originate from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
